I have the stock radio with CD changer in my 1997 Celica GT and one day a few weeks ago the passengers door speaker stopped working. Then a few days ago the drivers door speaker stopped working too! I checked the balance, the fader and the dashboard tweeters work and the back seat speakers work. Any ideas on what it could other than the radio went bad?

I didn't know one of the radio options for 1997 models had a CD-changer. I know some had CD-players, but never heard of one with a CD-changer.

Regardless, if you came came with a 6-speaker or 8-speaker system, it has at least one separate amplifier, potentially two. The primary amp is underneath the A/C controls, the secondary amp is under the driver's seat. One of these amplifiers could also be the source of your problem.

I am pretty sure your radio is the one shown in the parts diagram below. As for the CD changer, Toyota EPC doesn't show a deck like that for a 1997 Celica. But I don't think that is the issue. You can either look to see if you can find someone listing the radio deck (86120-2B511) and compare the faceplate number 5-digit number (I can't make it out on the image you provided) to yours to see if it is a match, and consider purchasing it. But I would check your amplifier (or amplifiers if you have two) as to possibly being the cause of the issue first.
